 Traditional Pottery of India

Jane Perryman is a ceramic artist and writer. She spent three years traveling and documenting the work and life of traditional potters in India just before the millenium and her book Traditional Pottery of Indiawas published by A&C Black in 2000. She will talk about the utilitarian and votive pottery made and used in the villages at that time; these ancient traditions have partly disappeared due to rapid modernisation but can still be found in remote areas. Her archive film Pottery Traditions of India will be shown as well as her collection of traditional pottery and votive sculpture.

Book and film available for sale.
