Stapleford Granary

Event description

18.30 pre concert talk, 19.30 concert.

The Goldfield Ensemble presents and evening of music for clarinet and strings, from neglected works to well loved pieces. Featuring the lesser-known and charming chamber music of Robin Milford, the programme also includes a new work from local composer Adam Pounds. Finzi's Prelude and Fugue is far too indiviudal a work to deserve meglect, with its vigourous and enganging fugue and a wonderfully assured conclusion. The Quintet by Brahms, possibly the greatest work of all for strings and clarinet, ends the programme.

The evening includes a pre-concert talk at 18.30 with composer Adam Pounds in conversation with Kate Romano.

The Goldfield Ensmeble acknowledges the support of the Robin Milford Trust and the Finzi Trust.
