with Ashley Solomon
We are delighted to welcome Professor Ashley Solomon to lead a workshop on baroque and classical flute music. Head of Historical Performance at London’s Royal College of Music and director of the baroque ensemble Florilegium, Ashley brings over 20 years’ experience working with original instruments to this workshop.
Ashley will coach participants in playing music by composers such as Bach, Telemann, Vivaldi, Handel and Mozart in an appropriate style on the modern flute.
The workshop is aimed at intermediate to advanced players who should feel free to bring along a favourite baroque or classical piece, as there may be time for Ashley to hear participants in a short performance class.
Instrument and minimum grade: Open to flute players of all ages, from grade 5 to diploma.
Ashley Solomon is Chair and Head of Historical Performance at Royal College of Music and performs internationally as the director, baroque flautist and recorder soloist with Florilegium. Combining a successful career across both theory and practice he has given masterclasses and lectures worldwide, including Yale University, and Oslo and Bergen Conservatories.
