Sunday 18 March Coffee from 11.00 Concert 12.00 | £12
Sunday Coffee Concert with Rachel Godsill - soprano, Ute Lepetit-Clare - mezzo-soprano and Marie-Noëlle Kendall - piano.
Having performed as solo artists in Europe, Asia, America and Australia, Rachel Godsill (soprano), Ute Lepetit-Clare (mezzo-soprano) and Marie-Noëlle Kendall (piano) came together in Cambridge in 2013 and began a series of recitals exploring repertoire from the German Romantic tradition.
The Schumann project brings together songs and piano solos from 1848, the year in which Schumann composed Album for the Young op.68 (piano) and the Song Album for the Young op.79.
The audience will hear well- loved pieces composed for Schumann’s own piano students and songs drawing on in the German folk tradition. These are performed in the context of contemporary letters and readings detailing the turbulent events of the 1848 revolution.
This spring afternoon concert concludes with Scenes from Childhood op.15. It is a concert reminiscent of childhood and suitable for all ages.
