Richard is noted for the integrity and breadth of his musicianship as soloist, chamber musician and recording artist. He won the British Contemporary Piano Competition in 2006 and was represented by Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) 2011-17. He has released three solo recital discs to critical acclaim and his playing has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Two, BBC Four and Sky Arts.

Recent highlights include recitals in Auditorium du Louvre, Bridgewater Hall, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Klangspuren Festival, Konzerthaus Berlin, Saffron Hall and Wigmore Hall, and tours of China and Columbia.

 A committed chamber musician, Richard has attended Open Chamber Music at IMS Prussia Cove and his regular collaborators include Savitri Grier, Peter Moore, Mark Simpson and Callum Smart. His recent disc with Callum Smart, La voix (Orchid Classics, 2016), was a Recommended Recording in The Strad.

 Richard is a contributor to Edition Peters’ Piano Masterworks series, an innovative multimedia project released through the Tido Music iPad app. He also records for the CDs that accompany the ABRSM’s Piano syllabuses.

 Richard read Music at Clare College, Cambridge, graduating with a Double First in 2008, and then studied at Guildhall School with Martin Roscoe. He is on the teaching staff at City University and Guildhall School.
